Partnership with parents

Date: April 30, 2018

Audience:

All House staff both boarding and day will find this workshop of benefit.

Why you should attend?

“Looking after other people’s children is an enormous responsibility. In the process, you will form a partnership with the parents to whom you are accountable.”

Liz Best, Mirror Mirror, 2014

Today boarding staff can expect parents to be more demanding and engaged with many aspects of the care that you provide for their children. Indeed, they may well expect you to communicate on a daily basis, via social media, on matters great and small that you almost become part of their family!

In order to ensure that this relationship flourishes, it is critical that staff establish ‘ground rules’ or expectations from the start and thereafter maintain appropriate boundaries and engagement that benefits not just that family but the whole community. However, that is easier said than done.

This workshop will explore what you need to do to create and maintain a ‘perfect’ partnership.
