Crisis? What crisis? Improving how schools manage crisis and critical incidents

Date: May 16, 2017

Course content: Schools are often required to react at short notice to a diverse range of challenges and minor crises. Managing such events demands experience and effective teamwork from the SMT but it can be taxing and frustrating particularly if it could have been avoided or dealt with earlier by other staff.  At the other end of the scale schools are likely to be faced with major events which could well impact on the whole school and required a much more complicated and sophisticated response.

Programme:

  • What current risks we are likely to face in our school environments
  • Models for effective risk assessment
  • The principles which help frame effective crisis management
  • Successful templates and models which can be adopted in your school
  • Common school crises and how best to manage them
  • Reviewing existing systems and
  • How to train staff to be more proactive/manage such crises
