Matrons' CPD- Society and children's behaviour to sex, sexuality and relationships

Course content: Working with young people, particularly in a residential setting such as a boarding school, is increasing a challenging one as the student behaviours and risks change and evolve in our modern ever connected world.

Programme:

  • The effect of society on children's behaviour including factors which influence children's behaviour
  • The development of socialisation
  • Magazines, television, the internet, our consumer age, all seem to target children when they are in the throes of coming to terms with complex social and psychological development.  How does this affect them?
  • Young people's sexuality - what we know and what we sometimes ignore
  • Defining boundaries for support, confidentiality and policy development
  • Talking about sexual behaviour with pupils and staff; finding resources to help
