We are seeking to appoint a Head of Department who will head a thriving department of teachers teaching from Year 7 through to A-Level. The Head of Department would coordinate, develop and contribute to the extra-curricular provision for History and the humanities more broadly.

The syllabus for the lower school covers a broad range of British and world history, and is designed to engender a keen interest in history and to develop the students’ analytical and evaluative skills. Years 10 and 11 study IGCSE History (covering International Relations, 1919-45; the Cold War; and Germany, 1918-45), and our sixth formers study OCR A-level History. The History Department has organised a range of popular trips for different year groups, including trips to the First World War battlefields, Paris and Versailles, the Mary Rose, and the Chalke Valley History Festival.
