  • Provide support to the other residential staff, including security staff  and the Nurse who work at Manor Residence
  • Ensure that the needs of each individual student are identified and met, communicating those needs to staff as appropriate, to ensure that the students feel supported and are able to develop and realise their potential
  • Communicate effectively with parents about the well-being, progress and conduct of their children. Ensure that parents are kept well-informed when situations arise that require their knowledge or intervention
  • Maintain accurate records of communication with students, parents and staff. Ensure that any incidents within the accommodation or which take place outside of College hours are brought to the attention of those who need to know, including other members of the residence team and the Director of Student Services
  • Supervise the weekend activities programme, liaising with the other houseparent and the Activities Programme Coordinator, as appropriate

  • Work with contracted on site security staff to ensure the safety and security of students in your care, and assist with any emergency that may occur in the residence whilst on duty or resident in the accommodation.
  • Oversee the physical well-being of all students in residence and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle. Liaise with the  College Nurse regarding any concerns about the health of a student and notify the Nurse and other relevant staff promptly when students are unwell
  • Take responsibility for the care of a sick student when they are in isolation from others
  • Ensure students have followed the correct procedures when leaving the premises – obtaining contact details before they leave

  • Ensure that residential rules are obeyed and bring to the attention of the other members of the residence staff team, Director of Student Services and Principal as appropriate, any infringements of those rules, escalating issues in accordance with College Policies when necessary
  • Implement the College disciplinary and sanctions policies if necessary and report details on incidents via email and onto the college database

  • Be available to support the new student arrival induction process
  • Ensure students’ personal belongings are kept securely and that individual rooms and common areas are maintained to a high standard, liaising with the Cleaning and Maintenance teams as appropriate.
  • Act as key holder and take responsibility for carrying out pre-arrival and departure room checks
  • Ensure staff shifts are started and concluded according to documented handover procedures
  • Be available to attend team meetings, training and staff events outside of your scheduled hours as required
