TES Independent Boarding School of the Year, and one of Country Life’s ‘Top 25’ Independent schools, Felsted has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, suitably qualified and passionate Head of Department to oversee the Senior MFL curriculum (Years 9-13). The successful person must be able to lead and develop a strong team of committed and hard-working teachers and language assistants who are passionate about their subject and the importance of languages and cultures. Felsted is an outward-looking, globally minded member of RoundSquare, seeking a Head of MFL who can play a pivotal role in the life and culture of the school.

Our school offers language pathways through A Level and IB, with French, German & Spanish being the core languages, and a small number of learners studying Italian and Mandarin. In addition to formal language programmes, the MFL team supports language recognition for an international community with learners from a wide variety of linguistic backgrounds. We believe in offering our pupils an authentic, positive language learning experience with as much variety and personalisation as students need. The Head of Department plays a key role in knowing pupils and facilitating learning through a wider network of tutors. It is essential that the successful person is committed to delivering exceptional learning to our students, has excellent subject knowledge and is willing to fully contribute to the co-curricular activities at the School, including boarding, tutoring, sports and activity programmes.
