Welcome to
the Boarding Schools' Association
The Boarding Schools’ Association is the United Kingdom Association
serving and representing member boarding schools, training staff and promoting
boarding education.
We hope that you find our new site interesting, informative and easy
to use. If you do experience any
teething problems, please let us know and we will endeavour to fix it as soon
as possible. This is a working site and
we really appreciate your input for improvements.
Schools and teachers; please do take a look at the BSA
section of the website as well as the Members section for information on the
Roehampton Professional Development and National Standards, and contact details
for our Executive Committee, made up of representatives from each accredited
association. Don’t forget to check Job
Search if you wish to advertise or apply for a position within a boarding
school.
Parents; do take a moment to read about the advantages of
boarding, information on International Baccalaureate and other useful
information in our Parents and Pupils section and use our new and improved
School Search to look for the right school for your child, whether you seek
horse-riding, Chinese, Navy training or dance in addition to all that you would
expect from any school. We understand
that finding a school can be difficult, which is why we have attempted to make
this process as easy for you as possible.
The BSA aims are:
- To promote the qualities of boarding education provided by all types of boarding schools in membership of the Association
- To encourage the highest standards of welfare for boarding pupils in its member schools
- To provide information about boarding and boarding schools which are in membership of the BSA to parents and young people considering boarding
- To organise a professional development programme for all staff and governors of boarding schools
- To produce appropriate publications on boarding issues and good practice in boarding
- To conduct and authorise appropriate research
- To work with other bodies concerned with boarding education
- To develop links with boarding associations and boarding schools worldwide
- To maintain a regular dialogue with appropriate Government Ministers and their departments, Members of Parliament, and local Government Officers
